For several months, a good number of Angel Falls' less recognized, but no less powerful and prominent heroes had been absent from public view. Much of the public wondered if they had been killed in unseen battles, or had simply departed for greener pastures. Now though, as summer passed by and autumn loomed on the horizon - and unknown to the public at large - those vanished heroes were preparing to make a grand return to the fold.....
A Bargain is Struck - Quantum Dragoon Hadrian (Drayke Kreichton) / Deimos / Pele -
For many months, Drayke 'DK' Kreichton - the time-displaced super-soldier from an alternate and advanced future of humanity, - had been splitting his time between routine patrols of Angel Falls and the planet, as well as spending a significant amount of time with his new girlfriend, Countessa Portia Alixandria. The immortal Amazon superhuman woman had greatly helped him adjust to a less developed society and tech level than what he had known, as much as he had helped her streamline her own business ventures and brought a much sought-after loving presence into her life. Still, that had given him little comfort with what had just occured today.
Without any warning, while Drayke was showing Countessa some of the newest improvements to his secret combat bunker - now situated several meters below Countessa's own estate over on Eden Island - a powerful portal of energy had swirled into being in the bunker's primary training hall! Moments later, with Drayke and Countessa in ready combat stances within the training hall, they were witness to the sudden appearance of two people from within the portal's depths. One of them was a tall, well-built and solemn young man with flowing black hair, dressed like a noble lord from medieval times, while the other was a beautiful woman dressed in tribal robes, with flowing crimson red hair, and of all things, barefoot! Still, Drayke's combat instincts never wavered as he addressed the two intruders, while the portal vanished from sight.
"Identify yourselves! Before I ventilate you both!" The futuristic soldier thundered at his uninvited guests, keeping himself between them and Countessa, even though she had drawn his spare energy handguns from his lower back and aimed them at the new arrivals over his shoulders. 'How did they circumvent all the security measures?' Drayke thought to himself as he continued to assess the situation. It was the woman who spoke first, slowly raising her hands up in a non-threatening manner.
"Be at peace, soldier of the future. We mean you no harm." The woman remained calm, despite the firearms aimed at her and her companion, but Drayke could easily see that a sphere of emerald energy had already collected itself in the left hand of the man.
"Your friend's stance says different, lady." Tessa chimed in over Drayke's shoulder. The flame haired woman nodded in kind.
"Should a son not defend his mother?" She intoned, and the black haired man instantly produced a stylized firearm of his own, pointing it at the couple.
"Always." The young man growled, his eyes now aglow with fearsome power. Drayke noted their positions in his head; it was an old school Mexican stand-off. 'Better to head it off before things get touchy.' Drayke thought to himself.
"Who are you?" He repeated his question from before. "And, how in blazes did you get past this installation's defenses!?" The woman smiled with a flash of honest mischief, as if she had foreknowledge of something.
"I'm sure, Mr. Kreichton, with your skills and training, you have gathered a vast amount of information on this world's metahuman populace since your arrival." The woman replied with a regal air. "Surely, you have also heard that among those empowered people, there are those who have been identified as 'divine.' Two of those very individuals stand before you, right now." Behind the flame haired woman, the young man gave a small smirk at his mother's comments.
"Drasil, update." Drayke intoned to his cloaked wristband. At once, the quantum A.I. within it compared the faces of the two intruders to its growing database, and a moment later, found a match.
<< Fleet Lieutenant, the young man's face matches that of a particular individual who has been encountered by the Guardians. >> Drayke's battle-aide replied. << That person has indeed been categorized as 'beyond human understanding.' His given name is Deimos, identified as the God-Weaver of Shadows, and a supposed descendant of an Elder God of Darkness and Destruction. Taking that into account, sir, the woman standing next to him is most likely the Lady Pele, Hawaiian goddess of fire and lightning,..... and indeed, she is his mother. >>
"Frak." Drayke muttered. A pair of literal gods, in his bunker, and him without his full battle armor, or time to transform himself into his higher combat form. 'Not good at all.' He thought before speaking again. "So, what brings a pair of higher dimensional beings into my humble abode, and without an RSVP, I might add?" At that, Pele seemed to chuckle, while Deimos relaxed, dispelling the energy orb in his left hand.
"We have come to discuss a potentially beneficial situation with you and your partner, Mr. Kreichton." Deimos spoke up as he holstered his arcane Aether Cannon in a shoulder holster on his left side. "One that will benefit all of us greatly. Shall we do so, without threats?"
Drayke looked over his shoulder at Countessa, who nodded at him while deftly sliding both of his spare handguns onto his lower back. Drayke slid both of his primary firearms back into their thigh holsters, then spoke up. "Drasil, inform Y-Prime that we will be in negotiations for the next few hours. Only emergency calls for me and Countessa are to be put through during that time."
<< Acknowledged and enacting protocols, sir. >> Drasil replied as the four individuals looked at one another, before Drayke gestured to their guest that they could speak in the nearby war room. Once they were all seated, save for Deimos, the discussion began.
"So...... what's this all about, then?" Drayke asked as Countessa looped her arm into one of his, while Deimos stood at parade rest while his mother nodded in response.
"My son has recently learned that he will soon become a parent in his own right, and by that knowledge, I am to be a grandmother." Pele stated plainly, even as she conjured up a quartet of goblets filled with tropical fruit from thin air for them all. Drayke arched an eyebrow at the statement, while Countessa was a bit more gobsmacked.
"Matter transmutation, teleportation with any visible means...!" Deimos chuckled softly at Countessa's surprised words.
"My mother has many talents, Lady Alixandria." The God-Weaver of Shadows looked over at his mother. "A little showing off just comes along with the package. But, I digress; back to business, then." Drayke nodded in kind.
"You mentioned earlier a mutually beneficial arrangement?" Deimos nodded at Drayke's response, then conjured a glowing orb representing the Earth, with Angel Falls marked very clearly on it.
"As my mother mentioned, we are aware that you are a cosmically blessed entity that was reborn here in this realm, Mr. Kreichton." Deimos then spun the orb once to point to the islands of Hawaii with ease. "With that in mind, we would like to ask for your permission to look into your memories to find the exact trans-dimensional coordinates to travel back to your realm, and retrieve both something for you and Lady Alixandria, as well as something to assist in the eventual arrival of my offspring." Drayke squinted at Deimos, rubbing his chin in thought.
"What exactly are you looking to find, err, Lord Deimos?" Countessa carefully asked, garnering a smile from the God-Weaver of Shadows.
"My son wishes to speak to and negotiate with the celestial entity who granted you your powers, Mr. Kreichton." Both Drayke and Countessa were floored by the response, but Lady Pele spoke up before they could respond.
"I, however, wish to speak to your original self in that realm, Mr. Kreichton, and make possible the acquistion of technology and resources that will greatly augment your presence here in Angel Falls, and on this world as well." Drayke and Countessa could not speak at that, only to be floored once more by the goddess' final request. "And, finally, I would request that YOU, Lady Alixandria, be the doctor who will deliver my grandchild into this world within the next few months. I will trust no other with that responsibility."
"Way to shock them down to their souls, Mother." Deimos grimly chuckled as he looked over at his flame-haired mother again. Pele smiled in response.
"I aim to please, my son." Pele waited until Drayke and Countessa had shaken off their disbelief, then listened to Drayke's reply.
"You want to travel back to my world... speak to the celestial creature that made me and my boys into those armored titans... help me get more resources from my world to aid my cause here...." Drayke began.
"AND, you want me to deliver your grandchild for you!?" Countessa finished. Both of the divine entities nodded in kind. Drayke and Countessa looked at each other.
"Holy..." Countessa said.
"FRAK." Drayke replied, then looked back at the divine beings. "Shouldn't we get this all in writing before we get too far ahead of ourselves?" Deimos smiled at Drayke's question.
"Spoken like a lifelong negotiator, Mr. Kreichton." Deimos said as he summoned forth a roll of glowing parchment and a set of shimmering stylus pens. "Let us all go over the terms of our agreement once more, yes?"
- Five hours later... -
"Wow; I never thought that we'd be working on something like THIS, DK." Countessa commented to her significant other, even as DK's battle-aide Drasil scanned and saved the visual images on the completed and signed mystical parchment into the main memory servers within the massive Yggdrasil Prime mainframe behind them. Deimos and Pele were discussing something a few feet away from them, mystical sigils floating in the air around them, but doing nothing dangerous... yet.
"That makes two of us, Tessa." DK commented as he calibrated his firearms before sliding them back into his leg holsters. "Still, they've been up front on everything, and haven't once threatened to roast us or erase us from existence. Points in my book, that's for sure."
"Are you SURE that you can handle this mind-walk they're talking about?" Tessa asked as Drayke finished his weapons' care. He nodded to her, then kissed her on the cheek.
"Trust me, Tessa, I've had worse things happen to me than a few bad memories popping up. This should be a cake walk for me, but still, I will be careful." Tessa nodded, then kissed him back and gently shooed him on his way.
"You all set for this, Deimos?" Drayke asked the God-Weaver, who nodded in kind and faced him like a warrior equal in battle.
"You need only think of your memories of the day you encountered that vessel, my new friend, and my mother and I will take care of the rest." Deimos replied. Taking a deep breath, the super-soldier relaxed, even as Deimos summoned forth his armored gauntlets and gently pressed his fingers to each of Drayke's temples. "Are you ready?"
"Do it." Drayke replied, and Deimos' eyes glowed brightly, the memory flow now in earnest. As Deimos began his mind-walk into Drayke's mind to find what he needed, Pele calmly watched her beloved son do his work. All the while, the Hawaiian goddess of fire was going over the details of her long-overdue conversation with the bearer of Deimos' child.....
- Flashback -
The day was passing normally for Marianna Faulkner, as the former NASA astronaut and scientist had converted most of her office space at the facility to be used and operated at her home. This way, her secrets of being the alien psionic Mari-VaNa, and heavily pregnant to boot, would not be so easily discovered. However, she had found that even with her true pregnant form now kept in psionic stasis, Mari-VaNa still had to devote a great deal of power and concentration as her child grew. She had yet to reconcile this new physical issue when suddenly, her desk phone rang.
"Miss Faulkner?" The secretary asked.
"What is it, my dear?" Marianna replied, even as she felt the psionic equivalent of a kick in the ribs from her unborn child. "I'm rather busy..."
"Yes, ma'am, but your three o'clock is here early." The secretary responded, which made Marianna frown.
"What three o'clock? My schedule for today is clear." Marianna replied, only for the door to her office to open, and in walked a tall, well-proportioned flame red-haired woman, her eyes seeming to twinkle with glee.
"Oh, Mari! You wound me, dear! Did you go and forget our little call yesterday to put this meeting on the books?" The woman said as she shooed the secretary back to her desk, closing the door behind her. "For shame, my dear, and we have SOOOO much to talk about!" Marianna looked at the woman as if she had grown a second head.
"Just who the hell are you!?" She yelled, only for the room to become eerily quiet as the new woman in the room grinned, right as her hair stood up on her head, and her entire body became surrounded by flame and lightning!
"SURELY, MARI-VANA, YOU KNEW FULL WELL THAT I WOULD BE COMING TO SEE YOU IN PERSON." The obviously superhuman woman spoke in a deep tone. "AFTER ALL, YOU ARE CARRYING THE PHYSICAL SHELL OF MY GRANDCHILD WITHIN YOUR TRUE FORM, AND MY SON IS FULLY INTENT ON RAISING HIS OFFSPRING WITH YOU."
Marianna froze in her chair. Her alien mind was the only thing still processing what had been said: Deimos' MOTHER was right in front of her, and her divine aura had not only stopped time all around them, but was far stronger than Marianna's powers could contend with. With her true form protecting the child, her abilities were easily at only half strength. The only thing that she could do was stall for time to marshall a psionic attack.
"OH, DO SAVE YOUR MENTAL STRENGTH, LITTLE MIND WALKER, FOR YOU WILL BE NEEDING IT." Pele chuckled at Marianna's silent thoughts. "ALTHOUGH I CAN EASILY HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS WITHOUT LOOKING DIRECTLY INTO YOUR MIND, I WOULD PREFER YOU ALLOW ME FREE ACCESS. AFTER ALL, THAT'S HOW I WILL DETERMINE IF YOU ARE TRULY WORTHY TO BEAR MY GRANDCHILD."
"Crap." Marianna finally said, massaging her temples. "I REALLY should have planned farther ahead than I did when I confronted him." Pele grinned again, then surprisingly walked over and gently held Marianna's chin in her hands before speaking in a normal tone.
"You COULD be worthy, child, but first, I need to see what drove you to assault my son in such a fashion." The Hawaiian goddess said. "I can sense your pain and fear buried deep within you. Tell me: are you willing to face them? To conquer them, once and for all? Do you have the courage to do so? For your unborn child? For yourself?"
With the face of the fire goddess right before hers, and the truth of her well-hidden issues at the cusp of being overcome, Marianna closed her eyes and said, "Yes. I grant you permission to see into my mind, and to view my memories, even those I buried deep in my mind so long ago." Pele smiled at her response before rubbing her hands together.
"Excellent choice..... daughter-in-law." The fire goddess grinned as she gently entered Marianna's mind, and began her search for answers.
- End Flashback -
"Mother." Deimos spoke out loud as he stepped back from Drayke.
"Yes, my son?" Pele replied as her mind returned to the present, and her eyes fell upon her son once more.
"I have the coordinates, Mother. We should be on our way to meet with the celestial entity first, and then, return to collect Mr. Kreichton for his trip back to his realm." Deimos said to his mother. She nodded.
"Very well; make sure you are ready for traveling, Mr. Kreichton, when we return to this place." Pele said as she stood up from her chair, passing a gentle healing enchantment over the super-soldier. "You should feel much better now."
"Thank you, and, be safe on your journey." Drayke replied, even as he began thinking of what he needed to take with him for his return home. Deimos and Pele nodded, then calmly left through a portal that the God-Weaver of Shadows opened to one side of the room.
"I'm never going to get used to things like that, hun." Countessa commented, even as Drayke gently kissed her on the forehead.
"You will. Come on, I've got packing to do." Drayke replied.
- Moments later.... -
Standing on a hilltop outside of Angel Falls, Deimos was calmly whispering the incantations and enchantments needed to form the trans-dimensional portal, while Pele busied herself with a review of what she had seen within Mari-VaNa's mind. Tragedy, deceit, and dark intentions had surrounded the alien psion, and it had all been well hidden from her... until Pele mind-walked into her psyche.
- Flashback 2 -
With Mari-VaNa acting as a focal point, Pele gently turned back time within her mind and her memories, and one by one, found the most prominent events that had shaped the alien psion up to her encounter with Deimos:
- Her first meeting out of the military academy on Mars with then Colonel K'Tar, a very self-confident tactician and leader, but who held himself above others with a haughty air of superiority and arrogance later in life.....
- S'Rai, her most trusted advisor and confident, who later changed into a far more militant and harsh counsel after a failed assassination attempt on his life alongside another.....
- Tobias Carmine, supposedly a outsider from a long-forgotten colony city on the outskirts of Mars proper, who became one of Mari's closest advisor, and stayed by her side even as rebellion and civil war ensued, which he informed her had been started by travelers from Earth before his assassination.....
- And, finally, the loss of her unborn child - a short but loving relationship to a young soldier who died shortly after they celebrated her pregnancy - to a very complicated and very painful childbirth... cradling the sets of birthing clothes to her chest as she wept with howling cries in her bed that night... the deceased fetus too badly deformed to tell if it had been a boy or a girl... and the names she would have given to them... M'riah if it had been a girl... K'Von if it had been a boy.....
Pele had seen enough. She could now see that the death of Mari's first unborn child had been the catalyst to declare eventual war on Earth as time passed on, but she could also sense that Tobias had more than a slight hand in things. The man stunk of darkness, greed, and ill will, and for some unknown reason, Pele KNEW he was not of the Martian people who Mari ruled. Also, Pele noted how S'Rai supported Mari in every good endeavor, but when it came to the war, he had opposed it, up until the assassintion attempt, and then... he changed.
That attempt had claimed Tobias' life as a result, but Pele could seen the change in S'Rai's behavior and manners... almost as if he had become Tobias reborn in his place. Then, the goddess flexed her senses and looked around Mari's memories of those events, and she KNEW what had happened. 'S'Rai WAS killed in that assassination, and Tobias was the culprit, allowing him to take S'Rai's place in disguise and guide Mari toward war with Earth!' The goddess mentally exclaimed to herself. 'More than likely, he also had a hand in the death of the child!'
However indignant she was over the death of an innocent life, Pele knew that she had to keep this new information to herself until she and Deimos returned from the other realm. If what she suspected was true, Mari had been a very unwilling pawn and sacrifice for Tobias to get his way, while the now-General K'Tar happily went along with it without pause and not even knowing S'Rai was not who he once was. Pele could see right through K'Tar: he did not fight to protect his people and his Queen, but only to fight for the sake of war and bloodshed itself.
'Mari... you poor child. You have been violated and betrayed so viciously..... but fear not.' Pele mentally vowed. 'My son, the super-soldier, and the Amazon will now aid you in the future battles against these heartless war-mongers. This, I promise you.' Turning to look at her son, Pele saw that Deimos had completed the rituals, and was now ready to travel to the other realm with her. "Let us make haste, my son." She spoke to him. "There is much to be done, and much to prepare for."
"Yes, Mother." Deimos replied as he took her hand, his battle mask sliding into place over his face as he engulfed them both in protective energy shells. Then, Deimos walked with his mother into the portal, vanishing from sight! The portal also vanished from view, leaving no trace that could be followed to their destination.

Well, here it is, long overdue but done: a new story from me for Angel Falls! My apologies that I took so long, but my muse went on strike, so I had to read a lot to find motivation to get off my duff and put a new story together. Hopefully, this will get me back on my horse, and riding off into the West with more work flowing out. Comments and ideas, welcome!
Yes, this takes place in , and just so you know, happens before the Til Death storyline being written by
Drayke "DK" Kreichton (Draykos) / Yggdrasil (Y) Prime / Drasil / The Celestial Entity / Deimos / Fire Goddess Pele (my version) = property of yours truly for use in Angel Falls. No pinching my gang, dudes and dudettes.
Countessa "Tessa" Portia Alixandria / Marianna Faulkner (Mari-VaNa) / Martian General K'Tar / Martian Advisor S'Rai / Tobias Carmine / M'Riah & K'Von = property of
Oh goodie! Another Quantum! *sighs* Just when ya think you've found something original, people go grabbing the brand name! I tell ya there's no justice! Did you know there's Quantum Batteries now? BATTERIES!! They're pretty much the same as the old ones, just with a longer shelf life, and that makes them QUANTUM! You've gotta tell me...why is this guy named Quantum Dragoon Hadrian? Why not Tacheon?
Looks like a cross between TeknoMan and Evangelion 01. Pretty interesting. Not a bad picture, though it could use some color and finish work. (And not the Quantum name. )
loving the comments, LQ; Drayke chose the Quantum Dragoon moniker due to how he was 'reborn' here in AF, as in his futuristic universe, he was, literally, a TeknoMan combatant. Here, though, his appearance is far more organic and emerald green in color. When I find the link to the pic that a friend said he would let me use as inspiration for DK's Hyper Dragoon mode, I will send it to u
But why Quantum? That's my shtick! Tacheons time travel too! Ask anyone! That's how they actually do the test to SEE if time travel could be possible! Yeah! Tacheon Dragoon Hadrian. It has a ring to it, right? Right?!?!?
Oy vey..... he's from an alternate, future universe where man has been to the stars for quite a few centuries, and has advanced very much in all aspects of life; plus, he's a living quantum energy reactor a la Superman, which is thus channeled and utilized through his augment suit, weapons, tech, and his armored forms. The. Name. Stays. Quantum. Dragoon. Hadrian. Hyper Mode: Draykos. Period. Down, woman!
Riiight...okay. Whatever you say mister macho man. Whatever makes you feel better that you have to live with your parents when your still 30 because you don't have anyone in your life because that's how you think women should be treated. You go guy. Keep the name, I was just messin' around and trying to razz you a bit, but if you think you're going to pull out the slap a bitch card, I'll be a bitch to you. I can go there too.
For your information, I don't think that toward women. Never have, never will, LQ. Latin Americans have enough crap to deal with. It was sarcasm, nothing more. Still, I see your point, and I apologize. Have a nice day.
Good story! I'm glad to see your Muse is off strike and you're back in business.
Welcome back my friend. good story
